Septarian Egg
SEPTARIAN EGG
Septarian stones were formed around 50 million years ago by decomposed sea life (killed from frequently volcanic eruptions), which high levels of sediments accumulated around carcasses and shells, forming nodules or concretion. When sea levels lower down, the nodules dried out suffering dehydration, shrinking its size and cracking into patterns and layers inside the septarian concretion. The cracks and cavities are called “septaire” which means “septum” or partition in Latin language.
